Stop Looking For Good Black Men!

I keep seeing hearing and reading complaints about how all of the good Black men are taken and the rest are either dead, in jail and/or Gay. Honestly I’m about to let you guys (those of you that are looking) in on a secret. All of those good Black Men you are looking for… are hiding from people like you! Have you ever stopped to think about why these rare men are so lost to their seekers? Take Eric for example… He is a fictional person with all of the qualities you are looking for on the outside. He’s in shape, well kept; he’s got great teeth, and silky smooth skin. On the inside he’s got a great head on his shoulders, a PhD and he’s humble. He’s caring, honest, sensitive, and very respectful to all. Your kind of guy right ladies? Now ask yourself a question… Why would this guy want to remove himself from his perfect world to be with you? How much are you going to take away from his person to have the right to call him your own. How much of that “That’s just how I am” are you going to introduce into his world for him to “deal” with. How much of himself will he have to himself once you get your hands on him? Are you feeling me with these questions? The good men you are looking for want to be married. (just like you) They want to be in Loving committed relationships. (Just Like you) And they want to be completely honest with the people that they Love. (uh huh… like you would never be) The question is… Knowing what he has to offer, and given that there is no scam he is the real deal; how much of yourself are you willing to give for this man? Is it 10%? 50% ? 99%? Remember he’s giving up everything to be with you. How much of that is he getting in return? And most of all, how much undesirable nonsense is coming to him as a package deal?
Let’s take a step back…. You never asked for the perfect Black Man right? I’m sure you all have your reasons for not pursuing the perfect Black Man (if he even existed to pursue). All you want is for some one to treat you right, someone to respect you, someone who is willing to put you first; right? Where does that leave him in your hands ladies? Now to be fair I’m speaking to those who are out there looking (Those single women) Us Married folk we have made our decisions and we are keepin it real by making it work for better and for worse.. But all of you vocal I-can’t-find-a-good-Black-Man pontificators (or windbags if I gotta go there)… Y’all the ones (forgive my street) I’m talkin to. What are you using for honey to catch that Bee? A single man who knows how to treat a woman can have whomever he wants; oftentimes, whenever he wants. A single man with money has a different advantage but an advantage just the same. He will at the very least get your attention. And that Black man that works at the land fill and smiles with his eyes knows what you look like when you are late getting the trash out on trash day. He’s got it goin on too. What are you bringing to these Brothas to add to the quality of their lives? Most of yall? I’ma tell you… You need to leave those Black Men be. They are happy, and they are cool with their world. They don’t need what you are bringing to them. The rest of you, and I mean the very few of you that are willing to give all of yourselves to someone willing to do the same. Look in side of yourself and be as honest as possible when you ask yourself am I what he’s looking for? Mind you there is a big difference between being an honest person and telling the truth for once. This obviously doesn’t apply to everyone but for those on that pulpit…Those Good Black Men are out there; but chances are, they are not looking for you.

I Mean… What do You really want?

I was listening to this little girl named Blair Wingo spit game on you tube (Well she was a twenty something) she’s giving the devil notice about how she was letting go of his hold on her. First of all I want to say that I applaud her. It was a beautifully spoken piece. But in the end it was nonsense! I tire of people making changes in their life (and yes I just said that people DO need to change… but do it quietly!) and then professing it to the masses so that people look at their lives through other peoples glasses. She took a swipe at Alicia Keys and at Kanye also at soljaboy and Neo. I’m like hey, if you don’t want those things in your life then turn off the radio! I’m askin what’s the point really when you decide to turn your back on somethin but can’t do it by yourself? To me the self-righteous are indeed righteous! Do your thing Sis, I think it’s cool. But leave me out of it. I’m not the lemming you take me to be. I wasted 10 minutes of my life listening to you figure out that you were the fool. I never bought the devils lie. He’s looked at me from afar long since I’ve grown into myself. But I wish you well in your “struggle” Blair Wingo As for me? I’m doin it with what God gave me, free will and all!

The Real Man in the Mirror

You ever wonder what everyone is talking about when they repeat sayings that just sound good when strapped to conviction. My favorite this week is the Man in the mirror hugged up against make that change. I’m not really trying to put anyones resolution on blast but I just wonder if anyone is serious about actually making some kind of change. I get tired of myself when I get on a podium and profess my intent to do something I haven’t the slightest clue how I’m gonna do.
The point is that it takes a real change to make that change. The effort it takes to tell oneself the truth is a monumental task that needs to preempt that change. And there you have it, the proverbial chicken before the egg. You have to make a change before you can make that change. Call me a pessimist but I just don’t see that effort being made. I look around and I see the same people doing the same things. It seems to me that everyone is waiting for this magical moment when it’s all going to seem easy. Can you imagine? How about Welfare scammers getting off of their asses and giving for once. Or Cops actually being public servants and not fraternity brothers on the prowl. How about the real deadbeat parents using that child support for the kids 529 fund. And the ones we all know that don’t even claim their offspring lending a hand if not some cigarette money. How about a change in the justice system so it actually equates to a system of justice. How about just everybody just doing something for someone less fortunate than themselves. Some of us have been giving our entire lives. Some of us are takers and consumers looking for that next ride. I for one would love to see that change.

Super Hero…

You ever wanted to be a super hero? I mean I got the whole BatMoCop thing from Batman Kool Mo Dee and Robocop. well, it did help that I had a body like a lesser god! I keep hearing about Captain Save-aHoe. I’ve been him once or twice. And then there is the whole me to the rescue thing when it comes to less than skilled people trying to turn a proverbial life wrench and getting a knuckle buster instead. I remember I was once a Cocky M effer, then I saw a Suburban 2500 hit me head on while I was in the back seat of a losing proposition. An ’84 ford explorer sitting at a dead stop waiting to be plowed like a grain in a field of of wheat. That shit hurt! I remember losing my nerve that day. I remember also when I went home to recover, I went on a trip to the beach. We let Robert drive (who could resist riding in a Hummer right?) Anyway this super red neck dude wanted to cut us off on the road to the beach and Rob wasn’t having it. He said somthin stupid and wouldn’t you know I sunk back into the seat while that crash kept playing on in my head. The situation resolved itself. With Me Jay Rich and Tiny in the load that dude was in for a world of hurt on a good day. I wasn’t at all good… That was some Post trauma nonsense working my nerves. Superheros don’t have those problems.

Today my kid looks up at me like I was some kind of Batman or maybe Blankman… Na man okay how about Hancock! Yeah the ability without the allure of super heroism. Well the jist of it is I want the status to go along with my far beyond those of mere mortal skills.

I’ve been 42 for a while now (9 whole days) and I can’t figure out how I’m supposed to be. Okay so before you hit me with the ól be yourself thing, understand that myself doesn’t take much seriously and the world just can’t seem to deal with that. So as an after thought of reinvention I need to create a colloquial socially acceptable persona that will allow me to trapse through the weeds of commonplace. If not I may just be forced to whip it out and piss on the world…
